YACHTING.
The first of the handicap races under tho auspices of ’the Port Nicholson Yacht Club will be tailed today, first-class yachts starting at 2.30 p.m. ; second-olas-i, 2.45 p.m.; third-class, 2.15 p m The firs.-class yachts have to sail three times, the prizes being the entrance fees for each taco to the winner of each event, with the sum of added by the club, together with a cup, presented by Mr E. W. Mills, to the yacht scoring the greatest number of points in the three events, ,-pba second-class and third-class prizes are similar, tho vice land rear-commodore presenting the oup conjointly for tho second-class competitions and Mr Jas. Dealey for the third. Iho following entries have boon received : First-class. —Waitangi, Maritana, Ngaire. Second-class.— M»pn, Atlanta, Mawhiti, Kotiri, Eona, 'Waiwetn, Syren, Mahine, Jessie Reed. _ Third-class.— Ripple, Mahaki, May, Grey.
