AQUATICS.

The fourth annual meeting of the Wellington Amateur Swimming Club was held last evening, Dr Chappie (president) in the chair. In his opening remarks the president strongly advocated the establishment of central baths at Te Aro. The report congratulated the members upon the advance made in swimming during the past year, and the great interest that was being manifested in the sport by the general public. The balance-sheet showed a email cash balance and no liabilities, which the committee thought highly satisfactory. The officers elected were: President, Dr Chappie (re-elected); vicepresidents, Sir Robert Stout, Messrs W. Ferguson, E, Davey, John Rosa, John Duthie, J. Myers ; captain, Mr T. Shields ; deputy-captain, Mr Gilberts, Hill; secretary, Mr E. J. Fleming (re-elected); treasurer, Mr George Sadd; auditor, Mr E. Hood (ro elected); swimming masters, Messrs Shields and Hill; starter and timekeeper, Mr H. Dovey (re-eleoted); delegates to the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, Messrs J. Fallen and E.O Rsnner; committee, Messrs Renner, Grimmatt, Wilkes, Evans end Dovey. The pnz'S won daring the past season were then presented by Dr Chappie as follows President’s ‘'up and medal, Mr Stubbs ; Boys' Kaoe. Mr Cothuno ; Neatest Header. Mr A. Wighton ; Ladies’ Bracelet, Mr Wilkes (first), Mr Hayward (second) and Mr Kelly (third) ; Back Race, Mr Thomas (first), Mr Kelly (second); Impromptu Race. Mr Shields ; Maiden Handicap, Mr Samuel (first), Mr Hayward (second); Anniversary Handicap, Hayward (first), Wilkes (second). Kelly (third) ; opening of season, Mr Stubbs. Tho delegates to the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association were instructed to apply for the privilege of having the 100yds Championship of New Zealand swum at Wellington on January 22nd. The formal opening of the season so far as the club is concerned was Used for Saturday, the 12th inat.
