The celebration of the Centenary of the Irish rising of 1798 to-day was very largely attended. The remains of a well-known Irish chief) Michael Dwyer, and his wife were exhumed at the old Devonshire street Cemetery and re-interred at Waverley Cemetery, wherethe foundation-stone of the national monument was laid. The body of the wife was in ft remarkable state of preservation, diie largely to her great age (1)5 years} when she died.
