THE SHELTER SHEDS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I think everyone will admit, be he visitor or resident, that the present shelter sheds are a disgrace and eyesore to the Empire City, although I must say they are very convenient to those that use them. I would humbly suggest to the corporation and ratepayers that instead of building the Town Hall upon a valuable site on the Te Aro reclamation they should as a body obtain the right through Parliament to use the overhead space of the shelter sheds for that purpose. A very large building could be erected overhead, leaving arched spaces below for shelter sheds. Another suggestion I would like to make, and that is the overhead space of the sheds be taken for railway purposes, and a passenger shed erected, which I am sure would be of the greatest convenience to the travelling public. Overhead bridges could be erected and the approaches to the wharf would be free for traffic. —I am, Ac. Telephone.
