COAL DISCOVERY NEAR HOKIANGA.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. • Auckland, May IS. What is said to bo a promising seam of coal has been, discovered at the Narrows, HoViaaga harbour. A small local syndicate has been formed to open up the seam, which outcrops close to the water’s edge. A substantial sum has already been raised by the settlers interested, and operations commence forthwith. The Government has agreed to lend a borer.
