To-day there was brought up from the West Coast the steeplechaser Conscript, who is engaged in the Great Northern Steeplechase. In double event wagering to-day Opai and Yoltigeur were in good demand for the Hurdle Raoe, coupled with Toriki and Levanter for the Steeplechase. A wager of 100 to 12 was accepted about Levanter for the Hurdles. There were also inquiries for Voltigeur.
Foliage, whose name has become notorious of late in Sydney, broke down in a selling race at Canterbury Park. He went out favourite, but stopped suddenly when looking dangerous in the straight, and hobbled past tho post The announcement that The Australian Peer was purchased recently for Amerioa turns out t > be premature, Old Hogmanay was sold in Sydney tho other day for 23s 6d. Bonnie Carlisle’s son was foiled in 1380, and though ha began his racing career in 1884, woa half a dozen races in 1893 and ran twice in 1894.
