New Zealand Times office, Friday evening. PRODUCE MARKET REPORT.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on the produce markets for ho week ending 14th inst. is as follows Wool, i* rora the tcoor of the Press Association advices, we had hoped that a distinct advance in ?n 1 ?hBir W So^^w OPO w. a .. ,roln OUr LonJo '> Office, in their ncxtcabl*. While, however, reporting a fairly strong market, there is no improvement in values to record. Our cable of iho pubOahid yesterday, shows that in many Hues there h“ really been a drop m prices sinra the opening Sf the sales. We hope, however, that tho improved outlook of foreign political affairs will h™, speedy effect on trade generally, and values of wool will harden with that of other produce sales held to-day (Friday) wo offered a small cata loguo, which was eagerly competed for by a eood attendance of buyers. Tho quality was, however indifferent, and values were fully equal to last sale’s rates. Crutohings brought up to 4d per lb : lamh* 6Jd: locks and pieces, l|d to 3d per lb. *

Sheepskins.—At our auction to-day we brought forward a large catalogue of mixed skins. There was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was keeu. In sympathy with the drop in wool there was a slight depreciation in value received for the inferior sorts, but for all butchers’ lines and skins with well saved pelts, full prices were forthcoming. It is very gratifying to us to find that our efforts to promote auction sales of this class of produce are being appreciated, and runbolders and settlers 'generally are taking advantage of this method of disposing of theirskins. We are satisfied that it is tho most satisfactory way of selling for both buyers and sellers, and we hope oar friends will continue to send forward all they have to offer. For our next sale, on the 28th inst., we hope to bare a catalogue nearly equal to that submitted to-

day. There were really no prime full*woolled skins offered, but the best submitted realised up to 5d per lb; medium, 8d to 4j(d ; inferior, 2d to 8d per lb. Hides.—At our auction to-day we offered a small lot, which realised Bsd per jib for heavy ox, 3d per lb for medium, and 2Jd per Jb lor cow hides ; calf* ■kins, 3d per lb. Tallow.—Consignments aro light, but equal to trade demands. We quote—Prime mutton tallow, 15s per cwt; good mixed, 14s to 14s Cd; inferior and badly rendered, 12s to 13s per cwt. We quote cable message just received from our London office :—Tallow is dull of sale. New Zealand fine mutton is worth 18s 6d per cwt, and good beef XCs 9d per cwt. It will thus be seen that our local market gives better results than can be obtained by shipping to London. Wheat.—The market shows a hardening tendency for whole fowl wheat, which is quoted at 4s per bushel cx store, sacks extra. # Oats.—There is not much business passing, but prices are well maintained, and aro rer° rte d be becoming firmer m the South. We quote—Prime short feed, 2s 6d to 2s 7d, sacks in, ex store; seed Tartarian and Duus, 2s 9J to 2s 10d per bushel, Chaff.—Prime heavy oaten sheaf meets with ready sale at 77s 6d to 80s. sacks extra, ex wharf. Inferior and discoloured meets with poor demand. Fungus.—Consignments are small. Prime dry is worth from 3d to 3sd per lb.
