By Telegraph.—Press Association, Invebcaegill, December 16. Mr Joseph Rogers, of Glenquoich Station, the oldest runholder in Southland, is dead, aged 65. He took up his land in 1861. Auckland, December 16. Mr William Percival, secretary of tho Auckland Racing Club, was thrown out of hia sulky to-day on to his head on tho metalled roadway in Wellesley street. Ho has received internal injuries. Owing to the present dry weather garden hose licenses have been cancelled by tho city authorities. This is the hottest December for ten years. Nelson, December 16. Sir Robert Stout presented the prizes to the pupils of both Colleges to-night, and today the* Mayor presented those awarded at St. Mary’s Convent schools.. At the School of Mnsic the reports-of the examiners are highly satisfactory. ■ Dunedin, December 16. At tho breaking-up of the .Girls’ Nigh School Mrs Reynolds unveiled a portrait in oils of Miss Dalrymple, through whose efforts 30 years ago. the school was mainly founded. ■
