Ac .advertiser’ for a 10-roomed house in the Herald explains his leaving his as due to the request of the roVnor for “ having supported the Liberal Government.” Krs Neill, Inspector of Hospitals and Charitable Institutions, is at present in town in connection with the furnishing and staffing of the new Hospital. The Aramoho residents are meeting with very substantial support.-in their endeavours to form a rowing club of their own, independent of the Wanganui Union Club, and it is almost certain that their efforts will be successful. ' Their disagreement with the Union Club seems likely to prove a blessing in disguise. ... Farmers in this district are busily pushing on their shearing in order to get it out of hand by Christmas. I hear that the clip will be a very good one this season, heavy fleeces being the order of the day m a number of places. The installation of Sir James. L. Stevenson, the Mayor-elect, takes place on Thursday, 17th inst. Considerable interest is being taken in the new Economic Building Society’s first ballot, which takes’pleeeon the 17th. Eobert Hair, an old and highly respected settler, died on the 11th at his homo, Woodstock, after a short illness. He was well known as a successful farmer and l , breeder -of purebred stock. His family i>ave the sympathy of a wide circle of fr iends in thair sad bereavement. Borough Council has lately been enq uiring into a complaint of a scandalous nature- If the details as your correspond!mt- heard them bo correct, the Council will not be doing their duty unless the offen'tlev is- severely dealt with, but some say , the charge is baseless.
