NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION.A mooting of tho Managing Committee of tho New Zealand Amateur Rowing- Associa-. lion was held last evening, there being present —Messrs A. G. Johnson (chairman), G. C. Fache, W. H. Field, W. Ross and the secretary (Mr A. M. Burns). homo discussion took place with regard to tho Championship WhAlcboat Race, of .£IOO, which appears on the programme of tho Auckland Anniversary Regatta, The event being open to all comers, it was pointed out that members of amatoarclubsmight lose their amateur status by competing. It was decided i that tbo secretary should write to tho local i officer of tho Association in Auckland calling his attention to tbo nature of the race, and asking him to uso his discretion in'making Iho facts known to tbo clubs which were likely to enter crews for- the event, and pointing out that members of affiliated clubs ran grave risk of losing their amateur status by" competing ia the event, and drawing particular attention to the Association’s amateur definition. : ‘ ' The G isborne clubs applied to have a local representative appointed for Gisborne, but the committee decided that it bad no power to grant the request, which had to come before a general meeting .of delegates. Permission was granted to members of affiliated clubs in Auckland to compete in the naval cutter race at the Ponsonby Regatta on SaturJay next.
