MR THORNDON BATHS.

Co r sidorablo progress has been mode by tho contractor, Mr S. Coleman, with the erection of the superstructure of tho Thorndon Baths. The attractive frontage of tho baths will bo a decided ornament to the Esplanade, and reflects much credit on the architect, Mr Charlesworth. It will be romemberod that the contract for the erection of the baths was let some time ago at 15s, -CI2U of which was for pile-driving The entrance to the baths is situated central -turret," facing tho Esplanade. Tho frontage to tho Esplanade is about 140 ft, including the octagonal domes at corners. The accommodation provided consists ot a sitting-room, -kitchen, laundry, bathroom, &c., for the use of the custodian. Close to the vestibule is a waitihg-ryom the uao of visitors who wish to wait [for friends using the baths. Situated mainly in the right and left wings are 50 dressing-rooms and four fresh water shower rooms. The dressingrooms will be provided with hat and cloak hooks, seats and special keys with numbers. The inside of the baths will have a cleat space of 100 ft by over 160 ft. The central turret and domes will be covered with Bnderlick’s patent zinc tiles.-
