Me William Henderson, a member of tho firm of It, Montgomery and Co., oork merchants, of Little Collins street, Melbourne, •was killed last week whilst riding to town from St. Hilda. Mr Frank Burton, the plucky young American, who is undertaking a trip round tho world under certain unique conditions, was entertained at luncheon by Mr Quong Tart, at hia rooms, Sydney, last week. Among those present was Colonel Bell (the United States Consul). Tho death is announced of Mr Richard Somerset Bonham, who for nearly forty years occupied tho position of librarian of tho Adelaide Public Library. Two men have been arrested at Byron Bay, having in their possession over twenty counterfeit coins, some skeleton keys, minute files, dynamite fuses, and caps, already loaded* At tho Hay quarter sessions last week Edwin Abraham Hughes, charged with horse-stealing, received nine months’ gaol. On being removed from the Court prisoner struck a man named McLuro across tho face with his handcuffs, inflicting a nasty wound, A young man named John Robilliard, residing s at Harris Park, Parramatta, is dangerously ill from tho effects of injuries received in a football match at Canterbury. Ho was ip tho Granville team which played against Canterbury, and in tho course of the play got rather roughly handled. Medical advice was obtained on Robilliard returning homo, and the doctor’s opinion is that tho kidneys have been injured.
