FROM THE SUBLIME TO THE RIDICULOUS.
While Jupp's band was discoursing sacred music on tho Basin "Reserve yesterday afternoon a number of lads wore playing “ banker ” with a pack of cards on a seat on the opposite side of the park. That harmed nobody in particular, but a worse feature than card-playing was evident. A “push” of young fellows promenaded the walk, and provided thoce (ladies not excepted) who wore unfortunate enough to get within hearing of them with filthy language. If these young chaps only knew how disgusting and vile they appear to a right minded person they would reserve such expressions for a more secluded spot.
