TO-DAY’S EVENTS.

Mr Cheok Hong Cheong is to give a lectnre, illustrated with limelight views, on the architecture, customs, manners and religion of China in tho Academy of Art this evening. Mr Cheong will be leaving for Australia on Tuesday. The Festival Choral Society hold a full rehearsal of soloists, orchestra and chorus this evening at 8 o’clock. As the concert will be held on the 29th inst. a full and punctual attendance is requested, Mr Lawton’s Novelty Company appear at the Opera House. To-day at 2.30 p.m. Messrs Harconrt and Co. will sell by auction, under conduct of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, the property of the Longbnrn Slaughtering and Freezing Company, Limited. This consists of 26 acres of land situated at Longbnrn, the extensive buildings thereon erected for tbe purpose of the Company’s business, and the very complete plant, maoh-'nery and fittings, including a Haalam’s refrigerator and everything necessary for the effectual carrying on of operations. The whole will be sold in one lot. Messrs A. G. Taine and Co. sell first-class household furniture at MoNab’s, Lower Hutt, to-day and to-morrow, beginning at 11 o’clock each day.
