FOOTBALL.
A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union was held last night. Tho transfer of Lewis from the Oriental first to the second fifteen, Moeller to take his place, wasagrecd to. A.letter was received from one of the touch judges in the Petone-Poneke match last Saturday, complaining of the remarks made to him by a spectator, who was also an official of a kindred body. It was decided that an enquiry should beheld, and that the parties in question should bo requested to attend at the next meeting of tho committee. The grounds for the Junior Shield matches on July 6fch have been drawn as follow: — Wellington College v. Poneke, No. 2; Oriental v. Wellington, Island Bay; Melrose v. Pctone, No. 3 The third-class fixtures for next Saturday are:—Wellington College v. Poncke, No. 4; Selwyn v. Athletic, No. 5. The dates of tho matches in the second round for tho Senior Shield are as follow June 29th—Petouc v. Melrose, Newtown; Pctone v. Athletic, Petono. July 6th —Pctone v. Wellington, Park ; Athletic v. Melrose, Pctone. July 13th—Poneke v. Wellington, Pctone; Petone v. Athletic, Park. July 20th —Poneke v. Petono, Park; Melrose v. Wellington, Petone. July 27—Wellington v. Athletic, Park ; Melrose v. Poneke, Petone. Owing to the hud weather yesterday the match Wholesale v. Retail had to be postponed. Tho Referees’ Association decided on Tuesday night to strictly adhere to the letter of rule 17 governing cup contests, which says that all matches played in town shall start at 3 p.m., and those played out of town at 3.15 p.m. The team unwilling or unable to go on with the game when the referee blows his whistle shall be adjudged to have lost the match by default. Tho following referees have been appointed for next Saturday’s matches; Senior Poneke v. Athletic, Mr J. Gamble; Petone v. Melrose, Mr G. Facho. Junior—Wellington College v. Wellington, Mr Do Costa; Athletic v. Melrose, Mr Ward; Selwyn v. Poneke, Mr j. T. King; Petone v. Oriental, Mr B. Finucane. Third-class—Wellington College v. Oriental, Mr C. laherwood,
