FIRES.

A carpenters’ workshop in New- North road, occupied by Neill and Collier, has been burned down. The stock and plant wero insured in the Commercial Union for JE2OO. The building was owned by Mr Watson (Watson and Murray, brewers), and was insured for £75 in the Now Zealand office. Wanganui, February 10. About 9.30 last night a fire broke out in a large two-storied house in the Avenue, opposite the Wesleyan Church. The build, ing was completely gutted. It was owned by Mr. Hughes, aud occupied as a boardinghouse by Mrs Austin. - ■ , The house, which was valued at ..£360, was insured for Part of Hughes* shop, next door, and a cottage on the other side were damaged. There was no insurance on the furniture.
