THE COMIC OPERA COMPANY.
The season of Messrs Williamson and Musgrove’s Royal Comic Opera Company is to open at the Opera House to-night with “Ma Mio Rosette.” The scene is laid in a picturesque part of Prance, and tho period is about the sixteenth century. The music of Paul Laoome has been revised and added to by Ivan Caryll, and the English libretto is by George Dance. The costumes and scenery for “Ma Mie Rosette ” are almost new, the opera having bean first produced in the colonies only a few mouths ago, when the staging cost Messrs Williamson and Musgrove nearly .£3OOO. The gorgeous costumes were made in Paris • and Melbourne. A very large number of seats have been sold, and there is every prospect of a successful season. The part of Eosotte will be taken by Miss Nellie Stewart, that of the King by Mr Wallace Brownlow, and that of Vincent by Mr Tapley, the two last-named making their first appearance in Wellington. Miss Marietta Nash will also appear hero for the first time to-night, as Martha, and Miss Florence Young will take the part of Corisande. Mr George Lami will be as funny as of yore, this time in the part of Bouillon, the valet. The company arrived yesterday .by tho steamer Penguin, from Christchurch, where they have had a very successful season.
