A man named Matthew Pickering was charged at the Magistrate’s Court on Saturday with vagrancy, and allowed to go at large on his promising to clear out of the town. He was, however, told that if ho again appeared in Wellington ho would be sent to ■ gaol for 12 mouths. He disappeared accordingly, but yesterday ho was seen in the streets by- Constable Hutton (ho couldn’t stay away, ho said), and was taken to the Terrace Gaol to serve his sentence.
