From Our Own, Correspondent. Fcatherston, January 15. On Saturday tho usual monthly meeting of the Peatherston Road Board was held j present—Messrs A. Matthews (chairman), Jas. Donald, Jas. McLeod, T. Evans, J. Nix, J. P. Russell andW. E. Bidwill. Accounts ■ amounting to £312 wero passed for payment. It was resolved that a special order should bo passed at the next meeting, to be confirmed on February 1 -Ith, that further aums.Ot -£SO, £2B, aud £2B bo applied for tho Pukeo, Tullocks and MartiuboroughPukeo roads respectively, as the loans were not sufficient to carry out tho works executed. On Friday afternoon tho youngest son of Mr F. A. Thompson had his foot badly cut by his older brother, who is about six year pld. ■ ’They woro-at Mr-Thompson’s survey camp at Pigeon Bush, and tho elder boy was chopping wood with an nxo, which slipped and cut the foot severely, almost severing one toe. The little sufferer was taken to Grey town aud attended by Dr Bey, and is now doing well. In the Court yesterday, Dr llauratty was charged ..with having uSod threatening language towards W. Gilpin, storekeeper, and; with having broken a large pane of glass; lu.his shop window. Defendant, who did not pht in an appearance, was fined 20s and 7s costs for the first offence, and 30s and 7s costs, or seven days’ imprisonment, for the second offence. The Domain Board has a credit balance of £2t 10s 2d. Tho funeral of tho late Miss Mason, whoso body was found in the Euamahunga -River on Saturday, took place this afternoon, and was well attended.
