lieutenant • Colonel Nowall held hla monthly Inspection of the Petona Naval Artillery Volunteers otthe Petona Drilished last evening, 50 in all being present on parade. LietenaDt-Commaodiog Davy being absent, Sub Lieutenant Kirk was in com* mand, Sub-Lieutenant Field being also present. After the company was inspected by Colonel Newall,Sergeant?Major Finn took command, and put the men through 9 course of piueketry and physical drill. The D Battery paraded for Government inspection last evening. There were 35 of all ranks present under Lieutenant John* etoo, with whom waa associated Lieutenant pearoe; Lieutenant Johnston inspected. Detachment and gun drill, under Sergeants Jeffreys and Petherick and Corporal Jensen, occupied the whole evening. The fallowing promotions were announced during the evening :—Bombardiers Howo and Brown to be corporals and Gunners Raynor and Truman to be bonqbardiem. Qne new member waa elected daring the evening.
