PROPOSED VANCOUVER MAIL SERVICE

Both the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand and the Orient Steam Ship Company have represented to the Colonial Government that they ought not to bo over* looked in the arrangements for tho Vancouver mail service, and state that they were prepared to enter for the service. Mr D. Mills, of the Union Steam Ship Company, to day, in tho course of an interview, stated that, owing to the Monowai being required for the intercolonial trade arrangement*, the company is proceeding to replace her in the 'Frisco line with a faster vessel of 4000 toss burden. He expected that the new vessel would be running before next season, and that she would do the voyage from ’Frisco to Sydney in 21 days. Melbodrnf, April 11.
