ARRIVAL OF THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL.
(press association.) Auckland, Miroh"23. The B.M.S. Monowai arrived to-day from San Francisco, via Honolulu and Apia, after a smart passage of IS days 2 hours actual steaming time. She Is a day ahead of contract date, Two deaths occurred on the trip. James White, s steerage passenger, died on the Btb from intemperance, and Dr Hovali, eged 78 years, ship’s surgeon, of Auckland, from diabetes aod a complication of other aliments. Both wore bnriod at sea. Passengers—Mrs James end infant, Messrs Fox, Robinson, Brookinshino, Dean, Thorn, Franks, Lasbinore, and 15 in the steerage. The steamer goes on to Sydney at 5 o’clock to-night. Her mails are of the following dates: —San Francisco, 3rd imt.; Honolulu, 10th inst.; Apia, 17th init.
