ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
MISHAP TO SIR F. WHITAKER
(per press association.) Auckland, May 3.
When on his way to officiate at the annual installation of officers of the Provincial Grand Lodge, S.C., yesterday. Sir Frederick slipped near the Northern Club and fell on to the kerbingof the pavement, the result being a nasty wound over the left eye. Ho had the wound dressed when ho reached the hall, and, notwithstanding the accident, remained and conducted the installation. . A gumdigger named Robert Lang, who lived at Kowai, fourteen miles from Kaw** kawn, committed suicide on Friday night by cutting his throat. Wanganui, May 2. James Mayes, platelayer, of Aramoho, dropped dead this morning at X£ai Iwi, of heart disease. He leaves a widow aud largo family of young children.
