MINING NEWS.
A NEW RUSH, (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Hokitika, November 7. News has reached town that good gold has been struck In Back Creek. The prospectors have driven seven feet through wash giving ISdwt to the load, and have not bottomed yet. Over 100 men are on the ground, and there is great excitement in town. Later. The new rneh at Back Creek, near Rimu, is 1700 ft from the edge of the terrace, Tho sinking is in 45ft, with a wash of Oft. The yield ia about loz to the load, with easy sinking, The ground requires timbering. It is believed to extend a considerable distance, bnt the extent is not yet proved. The oountry is pegged out ail round, Theie is great excitement at Rimu. The Woodstock miners believe that a large extent ot ground will be opened up. s
