A statement has found publication that the Customs revenue for the first seven months of the current financial year is “ L 74,922 15s Ud less than the estimate.” This is not correct, the mistake being due to overlooking the important fact that the new tariff (and the later estimate founded thereon) did not come
into force until the third month of the year. The estimate for the first two months was L 208,333, and for the remaining five L 126.250 each, so the actual shortcoming is only L 30,999, as we stated yesterday.
