WELUKGTON-PHCENIX CUP MATCH. TO THE EDITOR OF THB NEW ZEAUANDTIME3. Sir,—l am greatly surprised to hear it has been decided to, play off the WellingtonFhoeoix Senior Cap match on Saturday next. I would like to know why that match cannot be played off in the evenings daring the week, as has been done in other cap matches, 1 am in a position to state one club has been forced on three occasions, at very great inconvenience to members of the team, to play off in the evenings during the week. There, fore, why should one club be treated unfairly and (another club be favored, for that is certainly the case. Then again, why should junior players not receive fair play ? X would ask why were the , players in the Isto Wellington - Phoenix Junior Cup match' forced to play off their match in the evenings daring the week, why wore they net given a third Saturday? I am prepared for one answer to .the last query, that is, that there are more junior than senior matches to be got through; and allowing that, is .it not the more reason that the seniors should finish their matches as quickly as possible, in order to allow the junior cup matches to be got through; and not let the same unsatisfactory state of affairs occur as was the case last season, when (in accordance with the rule) all teams should meet, but owing to bad management did not, and the whole series of junior cup matches ended most unsatisfactory, X have no wish to go into the secrets of the management of the Association ; but in the opinion ■of many cricketers a very great deal requires to be explained, and unless a thorough change is made next season cricket in'Wellington will die a natural death.—l am, Ac., : Before the Scenes.
