Mitrailleuse, the Auckland mare, has been backed in Melbourne to the extent of £15,000 for the Newmarket Handicap.

FORBT7RY TRAINING NOTES. ■ (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, February 10. La Rose was sent twice round on the outer aide of the course, accomplishing a good striding gallop. Captain Cook was treated to a similar tack with Jealousy as a companion, the pair going pretty well all the way. Everton Lad, with neck rug on, and Miss Webster, stripped, were sent over two miles at a good pace. Goodman’s lot did little work. Apropos had a bit of a canter on tho tan. Silvermark and Quibble did not gallop. Puck was too lame to do anything but walk. Mokoia and St. Swithin did useful work on the tan. The former looks much improved. St. Clair was given steady work In company with Jennie. Derwenter and Patrician both stripped, and covered two miles on the tan at half pace, both moving freely, and Patrician looking particularly well. Kimberley did steady work by himself. He is getting very fit, and must be dangerous in the two-year-old races. Gaiety and Mistake worked separately. MANAWATtT RACES. Palmerston North, February 10.
