IMPORTANT NATIVE LAND CASE.
(UNITED press ASSOCIATION.) Hawera, February 10. Judgment was given to-day in an important case at the Native Land Court. An application was made by a Native dissatisfied with the Reserve Trustee’s allocation of interests on the West Coast Settlement reserves, to have his interest in a reserve cut out. He claimed an area corresponding with the share of the rents he had been in the habit of receiving before the allocation by the Reserve Trustee. The application was resisted by the Trustee, on the ground that his allocation was final and conclusive ; hut counsel for the applicant attacked the validity of the whole work of the Trustee, affecting lands ef very considerable value. After taking time to consider the questions raised, the Court to-day held that the action of the Trustee was right, and refused the application.
