Milling wheat, no demand ; fowls’do, in good; supply (tnere being large quantities of damaged grain in Canterbury) 2s 5d to 2s lOd ; feed barley, 2s 3d ; maize, 4s 9d ; beans, 3* 9d ; pease, 3s 3d ; pearl barley, L2O. # Pollard and bran are in unusually heavy winter demand, ami supplies being limited, their respective prices, L 5 and L 4 10s, are very firm. There is a deal of speculation in potatoes in the South, in anticipation of higher rates; values here mav be quoted at 65s to 70s. Prime onions are scarce at L 7 10s. Bacon- and hams, new cure, have declined per lb ; general demand for Christchurch cure at 9Jd. Cheese, 4|d ; salt butter, BJd to 9d ; honey. 5d ; eggs, scarce at 2* fid per d**z ; turkeys, inquired for at 12s per pair ; geese, 6s fid ; ducks, 4s ; fowls, 3a fid. As the fruit trade has been affected by the Inclement weather, and prices are very low in consequence, it would be unfair to make quotations : better prospects are looked for.
