The departure of the steamers Grafton and Kennedy for Nelson and We.-t Coast ports, Wakatu for Knikoura and Lyttelton, Kiwi fur Cistln Point and Napier, and Mohaka for Blenheim, has been postponed until to-day, mostly on account of the strong sou’-wester prevailing yesterday. . , The steamers Maitai for Westport, and Wanaka for Nelson, made a start yesterday evening, but were unable to face the gale, and anchored in Worser Bay. The cutter Agnes arrived yesterday from Have.ock with 12,501)ft of timber. The ss Stormbird was to sail for Wanganui, at 5 this morning. The following passengers were booked yesterday : Miss Hack-It, Messrs Cooper, Toomath, Hoskin (2), Blackett, Izard and Masters Blair (2). The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Rotorua sails for Picton, Nelson, Taranaki and Onehunga to-morrow, in place of the es Ringarooma, which takes up the Rotorua’s running, returning South to day. The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Waihi left Blenheim at 2.30 pm yesterday, crossed the bar at 4.30, and arrived here at 10.45 pm. She returns to-day.

VOYAGE OF THE BARQUENTXNE MAY. Messrs Turnbull and Go’s barquentine May, Captain Forbes, the arrival of which was reported in yesterday’s Times, anchored off the Railway Wharf at midnight on Monday, and was cleared by the Healih Officer at noon yesterday. We have to thank Mr Cullen, the chief officer, for the following report of the voyage Left Singapore on Wednesday, the 25th of March, at 2 in the morning, with a light land breeze, which changed to a sea breeze at 10 o’clock; entered the Straits of Rhio at 11 am, with a head wind right through, and came to an anchor at midnight half a mile off Garras Island. On Thursday, the 2Gth, got clear of the Straits at 4 pm, and discharged the pilot. She had light variable winds through the China Sea, passing several vessels on the way. On Sunday, the 29th, entered Banca Straits at 8 pm, came to anchor on Tuesday, 31st,. about half way through, and worked tides through the other half against light southerly breezes. On Friday, April 3rd, four full rigged ships passed through, bound north. The May cleared the Straits on Saturday, the 4th, and entered the Java Sea, whence she bad light winds to the North Watcher Island, and anchored twice within three mile of the latter on Monday, the 6th. She entered the Straits of Sund-a at noon on Tuesday, the 7th, with a brisk fair wind, pa-sed ten ships at anchor under Nicholas Point, three at Anjer Roads, six b-ating to windward, and one in company. Pa-sed Java Head at 4 am on Wednesday, the Bth, after experiencing a night of squalls, rain, thunder, and lightning. At 8 am a barque hove in sight, standing in for the Straits, with foretopgabant mast and main mast gone. On the 9ch," 10th, 11th, and 12th nothing but rain squ ills, terrific peals of thunder, and vivid lightning were experienced. On the 12th the SB trades were picked up, in lOdeg South, ami she had very strong winds and heavy head sea the three days following, topgallant sails being fust for 24 hours. Moderate breezes prevailed for the remainder, and the trades were lent on April 17, in lat. 22deg South. On the 18th light baffling winds prevailed, and for the next six days she had strong breezes, veering fr*»m ESE to South, with heavy south • west swell running. On the 25th the wind veered to the ENB, and on that day she made 150 mile*, and 202 on the following day. Variable winds, mostly NW to SW, then prevailed, and the meridian of the South Cape uf Tasmania was pansed on the 13th instant. Variable weather, from a calm to a gale, was then met with. Kocks Point was lighted at 5 am on Sunday last, and Cape Farewell light was abeam 12 hours later. She passed Tno Brothers at noon on Monday, took the pilot at 6 pm, and arrived in port as above. Her cargo consists of Eastern produce, rice, tapioca, timber, spice, &c. She will be berthed at the wharf and. entered at the Customs to-day! weather permitting. WEATHER EXCHANGE.
