It appears that tbe Chinese have found a novel way of making money out cf the high reward* offered for foreigners’ beads in Tonquin. They disinter the French, or any others who have been killed or otherwise died, and carry their beads to tbe officials to obtain the rewards offered. Her Mftjesby has contributed £2OO to the funds of the Royal Fund for the relief of thp orphans of sea fishermen, and tbe Prince of Wales, who is President of tbe Society, has contributed ICO guineas.
