BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT, (BEDTEB’S TELEGRAMS.) (Received March 29,1.30 p.m.) ANOTHER VICTORIAN LOAN. Melbourne, March 29, It is announced that, acting upon the advice ot the Agent-General, the Government has decided to place a redemption loan of £2,000,000 upon the London market at an early date. THE POSTAL CONFERENCE. The Government of New South Wales telegaphs that it has no objection to take part in the proposed Postal Conference, bat that it anticipates but little advantage from the same.
IRISH AFFAIRS. London, March 28. The first batch of six men, who were recently found guilty, at Belfast, of conspiring to murder Irish landlords, have been sentenced to terms of penal servitude varying from five to ten years. The homeward mails via Brindisi, which left; Melbourne on February 15th, were delivered in London yesterday. DEATH OP JOHN BROWN. John Brown, the personal servant of the Queen, is dead. (Received March 29, 10 p.m.) Sydney, March 29. Sailed, this afternoon—Union Company’s steamship Wairarapa, for Auckland. No successor has yet been appointed to Mr W. Copeland, who recently resigned the portfolio of Public Works. The victory of Darebin for the Sydney Cup has proved disastrous to the public.
