ILLNESS OF SIR GARNET WOLSELEY. RE-OKG AN IS A.TION OF THE EGYPTIAN ARMY. bedteb's telegrams. (Received September 28, 1.5 a.m.) Alexandria, September 26. Baker Pasha, who has undertaken the reorganisation of the Egyptian army, will give appointments to all the British officers now serving in the Turkish Gendarmerie. It is probable that the vacancies in the Imperial Ottoman service will be filled by German officers. Sir Garnet Wolseley is indisposed. His illness is not, however, reported to be of a serious nature. Constantinople, September 26. The Porte has presented a note to the British Ambassador with reference to the present position of affairs in Egypt, asking what steps the British Government propose to take for the withdrawal of the troops whose services are no longer needed in that country.
