MR ROLLESTON AND BISHOP SUTER.

(dotted press association.) Christchurch, December 2. The Bishop of Nelson has published this morning a series of telegrams between the Hon. W. Eolleston and himself. Mr Eolleston asks the Bishop whether it is correct, as reported, that the Bishop had said to several people that the Government’s treatment of Natives had been actuated by political con. Biderations with a view to influencing the elections, and the Bishop replied that the statement, whether made or not, appeared to him self-evident and harmless ; but he protested -against the Government requiring of him an account of private conversations. Mr Rolleston, in answer, said he had not required anything of the kind ; but merely wished to ascertain whether the statement which imputed such disgraceful conduct to the Government was true.
