The usual fortnightly meeting cf the Wellington Harbor Board, held yesterday,' was attended by Messrs W. H. Levin (Chairman), W. V. Jackson, F. A. Krull, J. E. Nathan, Captains Rose slid Williams, and H. M. Lyon (Secretary).

A letter was read from the Board’s solicitors re Messrs Plimmer and Reeves and Co.’s claims for compensation, and stating that their opinion would be forwarded probably in time for the next meeting of the Board. The Chairman reported that the sum of £3OOO had been placed in the Bank as a fixed deposit for six months, bearing interest at 3 per cent., and also, that after paying all accounts due by the Board to date and allowing for cheques outstanding, there would be a credit balance <>f £3Ol 3a lid.

The Chairman further reported that a Committee appointed at the last meeting had inspected the plans and tracings of the Te Aro. reclamation, and that they had met with their approval. Since then a letter had been received from the Town Clerk making certain proposals in regard to arrangements between the Board and Corporation for the better carrying out of the reclamation of the Board’s sea frontage. The Committee had carefully considered the proposals, and were of opinion that the proposals were perfectly equitable, and such as the Board might find to its interest to accept. The alterations to the original plans, as suggested by the Corporation, were to lay off the proposed main street fronting the harbor to only 90ft wide instead of 100£t, as originally intended, the former bei»g deemed ample for all requirements. It was also proposed that the retaining-wall and breastwork be erected of totara, sheathed with muntz meta>, a-.d that the Harbor Board pay for a portion of the retaining-wa 1, about 301 links from the wharf, this being considered eqnal to the Board’s frontage to the Hunter-street continuation. The Harbor Board ia also to reimburse i the Corporation for ita share of the reclama-

tion by progress payments as the expenditure increased. The Corporation further suggested that the retaining wall and breastwork be erected on the north aide of the Queen’s Wharf, the intermediate epace being reclaimed aa a part of the main contract. By carrying out the proposals so suggested, the Corporation Engineer was of opinion that available building frontage would be secured to the extent of 650 ft. The proposals were unanimously agreed to.

Accounts amounting to £1196 Is, and including a sum of £902 0s 6d, to be rernitte-l to London, for interest due on debentures, were passed for payment. An application from Mr G. W. Dutton to erect a bookstall on the Queen’s Wharf, was referred to the Wharf Committee. A letter was read from a firm of financial agents, offering to accommodate the Board with a loan, at moderate interest, of any sum from £60,000 upwards. In reply to an application, Captain C. J. Johnston, commanding the Naval Brigade, was granted permission to erect a boat-shed near the cable tanks, Pipitea Point, subject to' a landing stage being placed in connection therewith, and the building to be liable to removal on receiving three mouths’ notice. The work to be subject to the approval of the Harbor Inspector. A letter from Mr Seif, relative to woolpressing machinery, having been read and referred to the Wharf Committee, the Board adjourned.
