The Rev, Shirley Baker, Premier cf Tonga, has promised a scholarship for the best scholar in English among the Native students at three Kings Wesleyan College, to be called the Uga Scholarship, in memory of the Crown Prince of Tonga, who dfad in Auckland. Mr Codling was elected Mayor of Onehunga, defeating John Lundon.
Christchurch, December I. The Customs’ revenue for November is £18,004, against £12,070 last year. Material reductions in wharfage rates have been agreed to bv the Lyttelton Harbor Board, and they will come into operation at the beginning of the n*w year. Gretmouth, December 1.
In the Mayoral election, Barkley defeated Nancarrow—the former polling 114, and Nancarrow 134. The contest was keen, but there was no excitement.

The amount of duty collected for the month of November at the Customs w*s £34,452 5s 3d ; gold duty, £l2lO 30a 7d ; and beer, £1245 12s fid.
