AN EXPLANATION.

: [advertisement.] TO. THE EtIITOR OP-THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES Sir,— lt having come to my knowledge from several sources that my late partner, Mr. James Guilford, has been industriously circulating certain statements to the effect that I had entered into partnership with him ou false representations, &0., I must ask you to kindly insert in your valuable paper these few lines in my defence. , I. beg most distinctly to assert,' and our deed of partnership will prove, that I never represented myself to be in a position to put £3OO (as stated by Mr. Guilford) into the business ; but, on the contrary, it is expressly stipulated in the said deed of partnership that Mr. James Guilford “ shall from time to time, as required by the said partnership, find and provide such capital as may be necessary,” and our dissolution was solely due to'Mr. James Guilford’s inability to fulfill that stipulation, therefore from no fault of mine. It has also been stated by my late partner that I have “ received certain monies due our late firm, and failed to account for the same.” To this statement I make the most emphatic denial, it being utterly' untrue. Trusting you will insert the foregoing in justice to me, as false reports such as are above alluded to cannot but seriously injure me unless contradicted,• —I am, &c., C. W. Langstone, Late Partner in James Guilford & Co.
