MELBOURNE MARKETS. Tho following is Messrs. Goldsbrough and Co.'s report lor tho week ending January 8: — Wool.. We catalogued 4325 bales for our sale today, and had an excellent attendance of buyers. Competition was well sustained, and good lots, both merino and crossbred, sold at prices close up to those ruling before the holidays. Several largo clips of greasy sold at from lOd to Hid: scoured realised from lid to lOd: and inferior to good average fleece, from l-ld to 19} per lb. One bale superior lamb’s, from Glenisla station, sold at 2s 7}d. In all 2733 bales were sold. Sheepskins. —Wo cleared out a full supply during the past week, and obtained satisfactory prices. Wo quote—Butchers’ pelts, up to 2s Id each; country do, 2s do; dry skins, inferior to medium, 3d to od per ib; do, medium to superior, 5d to 7d per lb. Hides.— We report a steady market at late rates. Tho tone is healthy, and we have found no difficulty in disposing of all offering. Calf skins and superior parcels of hides are still neglected. Ox-hides (average sizes) realised from 15s to 25s each; cow-hides do, 10s to 14s: Victorian salted, 2}d to SJd per lb; Now Zealand do, 3}d to 4d per lb. Kangaroo Skins. —There is nothing whatever doing in this market at present, and the demand is very limited ; nominal quotations, do not exceed 9d per lb for picked parcels. Tallow.— At auction yesterday we cleared out a large catalogue, and obtained about late rates. There was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was brisk for well known brands. Wheat.—We catalogued 807 bags for our sale today, and sold by auction and private contract during tho week 631 bags at the following prices—Medium to prime milling, 4s 7d to 4s 8d; and inferior, from 3s 6d per bushel. Flour.—We quote £lolos per ton for best country brands. . , , , Oath, -At our sale to-day we disposed of 773 bags at tho following prices—Prime teed, 4s OJd; medium to good do, 3s Od to 3s 11(1: and inferior, from 3s 5d per bushel. ... , Barley.—Wo offered several parcels to-day, and sold about 200 bags at the following prices—Prime malting, Cs: medium to good, from 5s to 5s 7d; ana Inferior feed, at 3s 3Jd per bushel. Melbourne, January 6. Wool.—Wo held our usual sale of small clips today, and had a full attendance of buyers. The catalogue included 201 bales and 100 sacks, which were all sold except 15 bales greasy, ranging from 6d to IOJd, and inferior washed, 14(1 per lb. Prices for ordinary and cross-breds were a shade easier.
