The Cricket Match between the married and single players 6f Wellington cafee off on the. Ist inst.; but the interest of the game was' much lessened by some of the best players ori the married side not putting in an appearance; and others being substituted for them at the last moment. The result was that the single men woo, with five wickets to go down. The' day was very fine, though rather hot. The ground, notwithstanding it had been plentifully watered, was very bad, and; except just between wickets, so rough that good fielding was out of the question. There seems now to' be, a general opinion among all classes of settlers, that the great want of a reserve for public recreation should not be longer allowed td’ stand in the way of healthy out-door, amusements;
