M.L.C., in the Chair, it was proposed by Uhurles Clittbid, Esq., and seconded by James C. Crawford, Esq., and carried unaniinonsly,— “ That hs Colonel and Mrs. Gold, owing to their sudden departure for Auckland, would be unable to accept uu invitation to a farewell Bull, j>roposed to be given by the inhabitants of Wellington to them and to the Officers of the 65th Regiment, an Address expressive of the deep regret of the inhabitants al their approaching departure, and their appreciation of the valued sendees of Colonel Gold and his Officers during the long period they have been quartered in Wellington, should be presented to him.” Moved by William Hickson, Esq., and seconded by J. G. Kinross, Esq., and carried unanimously,— “ That the Superintendent, accompanied by a deputation. lie requested to present the Address to Colonel Gold.” Moved by William Bowler, Esq., seconded by N. Levin, Esq., and carried unanimously.— “ That a Subscription be entered into for the pnr chase of a piece of Plate to be presented to Colonel Gold as a small testimony of the high esteem in which he is held by the inhabitants of this city.” Moved by N. Levin. Esq., seconded by William Bowler, Esq., and carried unanimously.— 1 hat 31 r. Clifford and Mr. Crawford be requested to co‘lect subscriptions for the above purposes."
