Dangerous State of the Hutt Road.— We are credibly informed that the River Hutt has encroached upon the road, just above Earp’s farm, so far as to have, washed away part of one of the wheel tracks. Unless immediate attention be paid to it, there is great danger of tho road being cut through altogether, and communication stopped : to say nothing of the serious damage which will in that case ensue from the river finding a new channel. A little precaution, taken a month or two ago, would probably have prevented this. The Government has falcon no notice of the matter. There is a talk at the Hutt of a public meeting on the subject early next week.
