A few days ago Mr Sergeant of Matatnau. while fishing in tlie Man gate wi tu brought to land an enormous eel, which was 3ft 6in in length, 15£ inches in Circumference, and 16 pounds in weight. The butter consigned by the TJmutaoroa Dairy factory to Messrs J. Isaacs and Sons of Cardiff, through Mr T. W. Welch, ’produce merchant of New Plymouth has realised the very satisfactory price -of 120 s per cwfc. A large number of visitor© are in the
town for race week, and the bazaar is proving a great attraction every evening. , , The ballot for the Tamaki leases has been fixed for the last week in April. Mr George Franklin lias sold his farm of 820 acres it Ngapaeruru to Mr Galloway, of Miabarahara. Mr and Mrs G. W. Wright returned from their northern trip on the sth inst. The advance representative for the Macmnhon Dramatic Company, has made arrangements for the company to show here at an early date.
