WAIPUKURAU.

Even so early in the "visitors” season, there v are guests at the Tavistock hotel, which has considerable reputation as a very comfortable hostelry, and “mine host” is known as a genial man, and solicitous in a personal degree for the well-doing of his visitors. Some ladies from, Wellington, and families from Napier are at the hotel just now. v St. Andrews’ (Presbyterian) Sundayschool, presented a large number of pupils, at the recent examination held! in association with the Wellington Sunday School Union. The results show that all obtained passes, four pupils were placed in the first-class, five pupils in the second-class, and four pupils in tha third-class.
The annual general meeting of the Waipukurau Sports Club, was held in the Tavistock hotel on Wednesday evening. There was a good attendance of members, and Mr George Hunter, President of the club, occupied the chair. The secretary presented the report and balance-sheet, which wore adopted, the latter showing the satisfactory balance of £6 2s 8d to credit. The club may be congratulated on the financial success which attended their mitial meeting. The membership was increased by six during the meeting. The following officers were duly elected for the ensuing year:—'President—G-. Hunter, Esq., (re-elected); Vice-PTesi-dents—Messrs L. de Pelichet, A. Logan, junr., J. Cook, P. Hunter, J. W. Harding, R. Sainsbury, C. Hall, M.H.R., H. Drower, D'r Godfrey, P. Gow, Rev Mr Martin, E. Gilbertsen, A. Bellomay and the Hon W. C. Smith; Hon. Secretary— J. W. Barrie (re-elected); Treasurer—Mir A. Blom; Committee —Messrs F. Bailey, A. Blom, J. Bailey, J. Butler, A. Logan, W. Booth, P. Gunzel, G. Lomas, W. Moroney, W. J. Elliott, G. Potts, O. Seymour, R. Stains, D. Milne, T. Cook, D. Moffitt, W. A. Chambers,. F. Hopkinson, T. Gurthrie, R. J. Fleming, A. McKay and D. Annand. The following gentlemen were elected a programme committee:—Messrs G. Lomas, E. Uopi kinsm, F. Bailey, A. Blom, J. Butler, Booth, and R. J. Fleming. It was resolved to hold the next sports meeting on Boxing Bay. Votes of thanks were accorded to the chairman and secretary, and the meeting terminated.
