Plans have been prepared by_ the architect’s branch of the Public Tvorks Department for a new post office a Taihape, and tenders for the_ erection of the building, now being advertised, are to dose on the 15th prox. The new post office is to be erected on a corn® r section with a frontage of 42ft to the Main road, and a frontage to Muia street of 63ft. The building will be ot two stories, and will be erected in brick, finished externally in: rough east, with red cement dressings* In© appearance of the. building will be made attractive by a cupola to surmount a square tower over the front comer of the building. The main entrance to the post office will' be near the: corner in Main road, opening into vestibule and letter-box lobby (9ft by 9ft), whicaii in turn opens into the public office (28ft by 10ft). Other compartments on the ground flour comprise a mailroom (29£t by 26£t), telephone-room (16ft by Bft), and postmaster’s room: (14ft by 12ft), The first floor will be fitted, ujk aa & residence fat master-
