Tennis enthusiasts who are following the arrangements for the forthcoming international contests will bo interested to learn that Mr A. W. Dunlop, tho Victorian champion, who has been appointed the captain and manager of th« team chosen to represent Australasia at the laAvn tennis matches for the Davis Cup at Wimbledon in July, left Fremantle by the Omrali on the 12th inst. On the eve of his departure ho received a cablegram from the AllEngland Association, which read:— “Australasia has the bye first round; plays Austria second.” The representatives of five nations —France, United States, Belgium, Austria, and Australasia—have entered for the preliminary com petition. The winning team will oe called upon to meet the holders of the international championship, the British Isles, in the challenge round on July 21st, 22nd and 24th. The drawing for tho first round is:—Franco a bye, United States plays Belgium, Austria a bye, Australasia a bye. In the second round France meets the w inner of the United States v. Belgium tie, and Australasia meets Austria. It transpires that the yacht presented to the Australasian Methodist Foreign Mission Society for island work is tho Privateer, recently purchased in Fug' land on behalf of Mr J. M. Burke. The owner disposed of the to anonjmous purchasers on behalf of the Methodist mission. The Privateer is said to be Avell adapted for the work she is intended for.
