THE FAMOUS WAIHI. AUCKLAND, January 17. During the period ending December 31st the Waihi Gold Mining Company crushed and treated 14,497 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at £31,741, as against £30,701 from 11,258 t-cns for the corresponding period of the previous year. This return completes the company’s output for 1904, which shows the record total of £663,997, an increase over the total for 1903 of £13,516. Out of last year’s total there was disbursed t-o shareholders no less than £300,000, of which £250,000 was paid in dividends, and £50,000 in the shape o-f a bonus of 2>s pea* share. The shareholders have therefore now received a total of £1,552,896, in dividends, interest payments, and bonus, out of the gross yield to date from the mine of £3,817,383. Each year without exception the mine has yielded a greater amount of gold, and with the enormous ore reserves opened up, and the large' reef systems now being disclosed at the lowest level (No. 7), there is every prospect of the future annual outputs maintaining this in ciease. AUCKLAND, January 18. The manager of the Waiotahi Gold Mining Company telegraphed to-day that tie had had first retorting for a yield of 3210 z of retorted gold.. This would give a value of about £874 10sThe return is probably from general ok? in course of treatment. No general clean up will take place until the end of the month. The total lor the year,

including these two additional returns, is £3304 5s 4d. The return of 321 oz above noted is not included in the 1904 figures. The returns for the year from the leading mines in the Olunemuri County are almost completed. The figures for the various companies are as follows:- — Waihi—Total output to date, £3,817,393: total for 1904, £043,997. Talisman Consolidated —Total output to date. £317,786; total for 1904, £84,826. New Zealand Crown Alines —Total to' date, £582.071 ; total to November (December to come), £32,002. Komata Reefs —-Total to date, £140,133; total for year, £34,133. Waitakaun —Total to date, £361,675; one- crushing this year, £4612. The total output from these five mines in the Ohinemuri County for 1904 therefore amounts to £799,560, with returns still to come in, while the total output to date is £5,229,055.
