Dalgety an<l Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegrams from their London office :—Dated 18th inst.:—Since our last • telegram, tallow in general is lower by (kl per cwt. Prices are unchanged for wheat cargoes, and sales have taken place for January shipment, per steamer, to London, at 31s bd per quarters. Dated 19th inst.— The frozen meat market is dull. Since, our last telegram, prices for frozen mutton in general are lower by id to id per lb. We quote:—New Zealand beef, ox hinds, 1801 b to 2201 b, fair average quality, 3fd to 3UI per lb. Further sales of wheat have taken place at 31s 9u for shipment per steamer to London. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Wellington, have received the following cablegram fre-m their London office, dated 20th inst. The quantity of new wool to be admitted to the second series of wool sales is limited to 175,000' bales. The wool sales continue firm, and lately reported rates are fully maintained. FRIDAY’S WOOL. SKIN, AND HIDE SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report: We offered about 1900 skins, ICO hides, •and 50 bags wool. We have to record a further rise in sheepskins of Id per lb. Bidding was brisk, and there was a representative attendance of buyers. Everything offered was sold at very satisfactory figures. We quote: Sheepskins —Halfbred and merino, 7.]d to 8d ; fine crossbred, to 8d ; coarse crossbred, Gjjd to 7-Rl; short-woolied and dead, sjd to green skins, pelts Is to 2s Id, lambskins 2s Gd to 3s. Hides —-Ox, 25s to 28s; medium, 21s to 235; light, IGs to 20s Gd: cow, heavy IGs to 19s, light 7s to 15s 6d; calves, Is Gd to_2s. Wool (in bags)—Crossbred fleece, 7UI to 9d ; pieces, 4ijd to Gd ; locks, 3£d to 4}d; lambs, 74d to Bij-d. Murray, Roberts and Co. report:— We offered a catalogue of over 3500 sheepskins and 100 hides, besides a number of bags of wool. Prices were very firm at an advance of Id per ib on last sale’s figures, best lines of crossbred skins reaching to 8d per lb. Hides were in small quantities, and prices, except for anything in first-class order, ivere on a par with late quotations. Prices were as follow':— Yv T ool—Crossbred, in bags and fadges, light condition, S-Jd to 9}d per lb; crossbred medium, 7ld to Bid ; locks, pieces, etc., 3d to Gd. Skins —Crossbreds, fine, 7ld to 8d; crossbreds, medium, and coarse, 7RI to 7sd; lambs, 6i?d to 7£d; dead skins, 5d to G.^d; pelts, 9d to Is 7d each. Hides—Light cow, 9s to 13s; medium to heavy cow, 14s to 18s Gd ; light ox, 16s to 20s; medium to heavy ox, 21s to 27s Gd. Tallow—Medium, in casks, 18s to 18s 3d per cwt. Levin and Co., Limited, report:— We offered 25 fadges of wool and a quantity of bag wool, and 2700 skins and 150 hides. Competition was very keen, and the wool sold at full rates. Skins were firm, and some lots sold at an advance of Id, 8d being obtained for good crossbred skins. We quote: Skins—Merinos, 7d to 7£d; halfbreds, 7<l to 8d; fine crossbreds, 7%d to 8d; coarse crossbreds, 7-ld to 8d; short wools, 6d to 7d; dead skins, 4-Id to 6^d; butchers’ green, to 7s 9d each; green pelts, to 2s; lamb skins, to 2s 9d. Tallow—Only small quantities offering. Casks, £lB 10s j tins, 16s Gd; rough fat, 13s Gd. Hides—There was an improved demand, and prices advanced, especially for light or inferior hides. We quote: Cows, light, 11s to 13s: medium, 13s to los; heavy, 15s to 17s Gd; ox, light, 17s Gd to. 20s; medium. 20. s to 245; heavy, 24s to 275. STOCK SALES. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual stock sale at Upper Hutt yards on Thursday. There was a full entry of sheep and cattle, and a large attendance of buyers. All classes of sheep and young cattle were eagerly competed for. The following prices were realised: —Yearlings, £2 9s; weavers, 30s; 18-month heifers,£2 12s ; calves, £1 5s ; 2-year-old steers, £2 18s ; 2-year-old heifers, £3; 3-year-old steers, £4 11s; springing heifers, £5 ss; oows and calves, £4 14s; milk cows, £6 2s; bull, ±l2 ; ewes and wethers (mixed), 15s lid; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 15s 9d; cull ewes, 11s 4d ; gig and harness, £2O os. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report that during last week they held sales at Waikanae,Colyton and Palmerston. At Waikanae the firm had good entries of both sheep and cattle. . There was a good attendance, and prices were firm, equal, if not higher, than those ruling in larger centres. At Colytcm there was a good yarding of cattle, but no sheep came forward. The cattle sold freely, especially young sorts, and an absolute clearance was made. At Palmerston average entries came forward). There was a keen demand for sheep, every pen being sold under the hammer except a pen of lambs for which a good value was offered. Ihe improvement in values of cattle was fairly maintained, though young heifers were a trifle easier than last week. With the exception of one or two odd lots everything was sold. Quotations :

At the Bradford market wool is limited and prices are firm, with a hardening tendency. Forties, 16-Ul; forty-sixes, 17R1; common, sixties, 24d; super, 25d. On the wool sales being resumed, bidding was brisk, and prices were fully maintained. The Home trade is operating heavily. LONDON, January 22. The total quantity or wool catalogued to date is 31,614 bales, of which 30,404 hales have been sold.
