MAURICEVILLE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The fin© weather experienced during the past week has enabled the farmers to make good progress with shearing and haymaking. The School Committee has decided to give the children an excursion to Woodville on the 20fch hast. Parents and senior scholars will also join the excursion, and an enjoyable day's outing is anticipated. Mr Forsberv, junr., was drivingthrough the village this afternoon when the horse suddenly dropped dead. The occupant®, four in number, were slightly shaken and sustained bruises, but not of a serious nature.

The potato disease has evidently reached this district. One settler has four acres planted, and the whole lot will have to be ploughed m. I regret to report that the lime industry is far from brisk at present. Several of the quarrymen have been temporarily discharged and tenders have been called for getting the stone by contract. One of Mauriceville's old identities —Mr P. Thear, who has been confined to his house for the past two years, died on Wednesday.
