There are seventy-nine entrants for tho Doncaster Handicap, and forty-nine for the Sydney Cup. The entry of the New Zealand horse Convoy was irregular, and had to be rejected. At a meeting of stewards of the Wellington Racing Club on Monday, ten new members were elected. It was decided to use Robertson's double totalisator at the forthcoming meeting. On the first day the double will be on the Cup and Telegraph Handicap, and on the second day mi the Racing Club Handicap and Metropolitan Handicap. Work on the club’s new course was started in earnest yesterday morning. Visiting trainers to the forthcoming meeting are to be invited to a luncheon party to be> given on the site of the new course. Tlie privileges of the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting were sold at auction by Messrs Harcourt and Co. yesterday. Competition was very keen. The grandstand bar was sold to Mr W. Lewis for <£B2, the public booth to the same buyer for £BO. and the correct cards to Mr Geo Cooksley at <£l9l.
