HAVELOCK.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Messr O. and P. Mills, .of Brightlands, have challenged Messrs R. Black and E. Wells to roAva double-scull race, over a mile and a half course, for a stake of £5 The challenge has been accepted and the race Avill be rowed at Wilson’s Bay on Saturday, 14th inst. Brownlee and Co.’e mill is idle just now owing to the log-hauler breaking down, and it is expected it Avill take a fortnight to repair it. On NeAV Year’s Day two whales were caught at Matrau (Pelorus Sounds) by Messrs iSchenkel, Simpson and Johnson. They measure about 86ft in length, and belong to the bottle-nose variety.
